A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this client over the phone. Below is an edited transcript.
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder of a startup shipping company.
What challenge were you trying to address with Logo Design Hub?
We’re building a portal on a website for shipping. The website is in the design stage. I hired Logo Design Hub to design a logo for the website.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They put up a team of people on our project. They started with the logo, made stationary, then they did some templates for social media postings, and designed a brochure for me. They said the communication would take 24 hours. I’d give them something, they’d come back to me within 24 hours with the logo. Then I’d make changes, and they’d come back again in the next 24 hours.
What is the team composition?
After a quick Google, I found their website. The logos in the past that they did were modern and clean, so I went ahead with them.
How did you come to work with Logo Design Hub?
All my communication went through Zach (Account Manager). He had a dedicated team behind them.
How much have you invested with them?
The package was £99 (approximately $130 USD).
What is the status of this engagement?
The project began in the second week of May 2020. It ended recently, in June 2020. It took just over a month to agree to the logo.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I haven’t checked the logo with anyone yet. I liked one of the logos, and it was creative and modern. The stationary wasn’t up to snuff. It was old and outdated. They only successfully delivered one out of four items, the logo.
How did Logo Design Hub perform from a project management standpoint?
I thought the delivery could be done within a month. I didn’t expect it to take a month to agree on a logo. They would send up to seven logos on the first time, and then they’d go from there. I’d nominate one or two, and then they’d rework little changes. When I asked them to start fresh, they slowed down and the creativity was not up to the mark. Their communication wasn’t perfect — sometimes they’d take more than 24 hours but this wasn’t a major problem.
The issues arose on the stationery that they designed. When that had issues, Zach said to give them a chance. Things started breaking down here. I had a call and tried to pull out because their second attempt also failed. I went to try again and start somewhere else.
They gave me a partial refund when I went to end the partnership, but then, after I left them negative feedback, they charged my card again. It would’ve been fine if they just gave me a partial refund and moved on. I thought they would like constructive criticism, but their chargeback was very unprofessional. They then found me and threatened me, saying that they were reporting me to the police and would raise legal complaints against me.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their communication structure was nice, for I always had a dedicated person to speak too.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Their design team and creativity could improve in order to match their portfolio.
The initial logo was creative and modern, but their stationery designs were old and poor. Having only delivered 1/4th of the work acceptably, the client attempted to end the partnership and receive a partial refund. After leaving negative feedback, Logo Design Hub chargebacked and threatened him.
